What are some tips for working with my DCX team member?

Here are some of our teams' top tips for working with a DCX team member: 

Nate Littlefield, VP of Sales - Emerging Markets:

1. Be intentional about making one-on-one meetings structured, routine, and frequent every week. 2. Invest 2-3 dedicated time slots a week to come together, gather feedback, and talk actual business results specific to their role. 3. Based on what you lay out during your structure and routine, use that time to provide recognition for exceeding results and KPI’s. You can also use the time to gameplan any opportunities that might be relevant to that team member. 4. Never miss a time to ask about your DCX teammate’s family, pets, interests etc. – it’s fun and constructive dialogue that goes a long way with the human element of everyone’s job – even a simple 30 seconds here means so much.

Jenna Formica, Business Development Manager:

Turn that camera on and say hi 👋. A little face-to-face time (even through a screen) helps build connection and trust, and reminds everyone there’s a real human behind the keyboard. Bonus points if your pets make an appearance!

Team-focused integration ...not tasks!
The more your DCXer feels like an integral part of your team, the more motivated and aligned they’ll be. Include them in team meetings, communications, and social interactions. Share context, not just tasks—help them understand why their work matters to the bigger picture. This builds trust, accountability, and a sense of ownership. And for my best practices for new employee integration - Send a welcome package, include them in regular team huddles, assign a mentor/supervisor, and most of all recognize and celebrate their contributions!

Want a rockstar TM? Communicate early, often, and openly. Be clear on goals, share helpful tools, and connect with your Team Lead and CSM. When you invest in your TM, they help grow your business.

Structure is one of the key elements of success when a new person joins your team. Entering a new company or role is a time of uncertainty that puts almost anyone outside their comfort zone. Setting out a clear framework of what is going to be learned and when puts people at ease and greatly helps their success. What should they know after week 1, week 2, etc. And remember, everyone learns in their own way at their own pace. So regular check-ins to see what individuals need more time with or are moving through more quickly than expected keeps new team members supported and engaged.

Start with a handful of tasks for the TM to perfect as they are getting started, then once they master those tasks, continue to layer the complexity and amount of tasks that they are managing.  Also - communication is key!  Set clear expectations on how frequently and how you will check in with each other.  Frequent video meetings to ensure that you are on same page are incredibly helpful as the TM is getting started.
